I've got a little resentful ember
burning a hole in my heart
the blood leaks out

You can get a quart of me
as you walk by

We have to make little holes in ourselves so
we can let things in
They are vulnerable to changes in size and
have been known to cave in
Which can trap a little piece inside and
set it aflame
And make a burned out place out of a gorgeous space where
nothing can live

I've got a space that's behind my face
that makes me laugh, and makes me cry
all the time

You can hear me vomit words
as you walk by

There's a color that sits inside that
I cannot describe
It's spectrum doesn't quite agree with the one
I can see with my eyes
We are limited by language and words and
by culture and conscience
Our thoughts swimming in an internal abyss
fighting for context

And you've been waiting here for the dead songbirds to arrive
And we're debating the merits of keeping our species alive
And you reach out to discover phosphorescent light
coming out from the wood
It feels so good

There's a man that I don't quite know living deep in my chest
He doesn't rest

But you can watch me fight him off
